News Hound

I wrote this post yesterday. And then I closed my browser window before I clicked on publish. Not a sensible thing to do.

A couple of things to look at. Both are related to RSS (Really Simple Syndication – more information from the BBC or from another group).

I use a feed reader to keep up with all the blogs, websites and news that I go to daily. I have used Bloglines and FeedDemon and they are both OK. But recently I came across BlogBridge. BlogBridge is great. It allows me to sychronise what I have read across my PC and my Mac and it keeps them both up to date. The interface is pretty simple and at the moment it’s free (FeedDemon isn’t).

I’ve also just discovered Prot0page. In the old days I built a page that I used as my homepage. It had links to all the sites that I used daily – the bank, NZ Herald, Google (might have been Dogpile back then :) ). Protopage allows you to build your own home page and to customise it without having to organise the HTML code and all that stuff. At the moment (still in its early versions) you can add RSS news feeds and sticky notes and to do lists. And if those sticky notes and to do lists are private then you can make your page private. You can have multiple pages and organise your news and information exactly how you want.
