Talking to Myself

goldenhorse-sm.jpgWe went into the city this evening to see Goldenhorse at the Spiegeltent (as part of AK07). Over the last couple of years we’ve seen them at the Bruce Mason Centre and also on the floating stage at the Viaduct. Tonight was definitely the best because it was really intimate. Bring on that new album.

But I digress. We went into town quite early and went into a cafe / bar for dinner. It was a lovely evening and so we chose to eat outside. In the corner of the deck sat a woman on her own. She had a drink and was served a meal. The whole time we were there she was talking. She had no companion. I couldn’t see a wire or a microphone or an ear piece. I couldn’t see any wires. But she was definitely talking to someone. She cocked her head and she listened. She laughed and she seemed really comfortable.

It was really quite interesting. I wanted to get closer and see if there was a phone on the table or perhaps an iPod or other MP3 player somewhere. But then I didn’t really because maybe she was just talking to herself. And maybe she was really enjoying the conversation.
It really got me thinking because this business of blogging is really about talking to yourself. And often times, really enjoying the conversation.
