Vista on the Tablet

I have managed to install Vista Ultimate Edition on the M400 and so far I am reasonably happy with it. This is a cautious install – there are a few things that I’m uncertain about – so I have retained my Tablet Edition (XP) in a dual boot configuration.

Early impressions:

Good

Vista installed very easily.

New M400 bios update

There are several major issues that M400 owners would like to see addressed. Continual fan usage, mouse lag problems and unstable resume from  standby/hibernation affect many Portege owners. There has been an update that claims to sort out the hibernation problem available  for a couple of weeks. It seems to work OK on my machine.

Tablet @ Work – One Week In!

I’ve had my Toshiba Protege M400 for a little over a week now. I’ve been using it everyday and am becoming more comfortable with it. I’m still running on 512MB ram and that’s definitely on the short side (I have another 512MB on order) but it’s not too bad.

Lots of users report that the [...]

Tablet @ Work – Day 1

Today I took my tablet out for the first time. I was at Parakai School with the wonderful teachers who work there. First up, we were distracted by a powerline that had chosen today to snap and fall down just metres from my car. The teachers that I was working with, and I joined the [...]
